But from the view of stage-designing, although relentless efforts have been made in designing the stage, the * Vladimir Popov, the renowned Russian painter and calligrapher, presented one of his beautiful tableaus to President Seyed Mohammad Khatami. The tableau displays a mosque in the city of Kazan, the capital of Tataristan. Kazan was once one of the main centers of Islamic civilization. After its reconstruction, the city is now a symbol of the revival of Islamic culture and civilization. * More than 300 works of art are currently on display at the 8th Holy Qoran Exhibition. According to the director of the Art Section of the exhibition, different universities have participated in this year's exhibition, and the students have presented remarkable works at the exhibition. * Head of India's Pavilion at the 8th Holy Qoran Exhibition, Khajehpiri, said that the Indian Muslims are active in different social, cultural, political and economic areas. He said that Muslims ruled over a vast part of India for some 800 years, adding that they turned India into a great base in the Islamic world. * Some 110 paintings drawn by children during the exhibition will be selected as the bests of the exhibition. Furthermore, the best three works will be awarded the honorary plaque of the exhibition. * The Caretaker Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Ahmad Masjed-Jame'i, announced that based on the results of a research conducted recently, the young university graduates who received their degrees after the victory of the Islamic Revolution pay more attention to the holy Qoran in comparison with others. He underlined that 58 percent of those with B.A. or higher university degrees are in the habit of reading the holy Qoran. * A Malaysian group visited the 8th Holy Qoran Exhibition. The group comprised 45 Hajj pilgrims who intended to go to Mecca after a three-day stay in Tehran. The Malaysian pilgrims greatly praised the different pavilions of the exhibition. * More than 20 designs for the cover of the holy Qoran have been put on display at the exhibition. According to the director of the Art Section of the exhibition, the designs have been created by Iranian graphic artists including Morteza Dabir, Ebrahim Haqiqi, Shahram Golparian, Seyed Mohammad O'rang, Mehrnaz Kokabi and Noushin Nazeman. * A seminar in commemoration of the renowned calligrapher of the holy Qoran Sheikh Ahmad Sohrevardi was held in the auditorium of the exhibition. The speakers at the seminar talked about different aspects of his life and special characteristics of his calligraphy works.
